Normal wear

Our extended warranty covers mechanical, electrical and electronic failures of the components listed in your contract. It does not cover normal wear, meaning the progressive degradation of a part caused by routine use of the vehicle rather than a sudden failure.

What is normal wear?

Normal wear is the foreseeable wear of a part consistent with its function. A part that reaches the end of its useful life after reasonable mileage is considered worn, not failed. The warranty steps in when an eligible part suddenly and unexpectedly stops functioning.

Excluded components (normal wear)

• Filters (air, oil, cabin, fuel)
• Fluids and lubricants (oil, brake fluid, coolant, washer fluid)
• Brake pads, rotors and drums
• Tires and inner tubes
• Wipers and blades
• Bulbs and fuses (except failure of a covered electronic module)
• Clutch and related parts (disc, plates, release bearing) under normal wear
• Linkage, ball joints and bushings at expected wear
• Spark plugs, belts and timing chains at scheduled maintenance
• Seals and gaskets under progressive seepage

Owner-paid maintenance

Periodic maintenance parts and services (inspections, oil changes, replacement of the consumables above) remain your responsibility (labor and parts). Failure to follow the manufacturer's maintenance schedule may affect the eligibility of a future claim.

Failure vs wear

An A/C compressor that suddenly stops working is a covered failure. Brake pads worn after 60,000 km are normal wear and remain your responsibility. If in doubt, our team can help clarify the nature of the claim.
